This new guide is a must for birders visiting the region. It includes 4 countries (more info for your money), very comprehensive: includes habitat descriptions, quick index, range maps and beautiful plates among other things. What I love about this new book as compared to older guides is that it is very complete and practical to use!!,when identifying a bird the page includes a range map, detailed description of the bird, and it is next to the drawing, no more going back and forth to see the plate and read the description and range!The authors did a great job on this well thought and laid out guide!

Finally, an up-to-date field guide to the birds of Northern Central America that’s easily portable and user friendly - I just wish I’d learned of this before I went on a birding trip to Guatemala! This is a very useful guide, with good illustrations, descriptions, and range maps. (Don’t be surprised if you buy a new copy and it looks like there’s a coffee stain on the upper right-hand corner; this is just how it was designed, for reasons known only to the graphic designer.)

This book is listed on the Amazon website as a guide book that covers birds found in Mexico. This guide does NOT cover Mexico--it covers Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

This compact guide is very well done and includes many recent records, expanding the avian knowledge of this under-birded region. Everything you might possibly see in the region is illustrated (unlike some of the region's older field guides). For example, I much prefer it to the older (and heavier!) Howell guide. Plates are mostly well drawn and my only quibble is a fairly small font size.

A great, pocket-sized field guide! Up-to-date and comprehensive for the region. Carefully compares look-alike species. Identifies endemics. As an amateur, I was impressed by how well the professionals I birded with in Belize and Cozumel received this new book.

Used this on a trip to Belize and was very impressed with it. The pictures and descriptions were accurate and very useful for identifying birds we saw. I was able to identify several birds I'd never seen or heard of before by just paging through the book, which is impossible if the illustrations aren't just right. The compact size is convenient to carry in the field without sacrificing usability.

It's a great field guide to the central countries of Central America. I like that it's complete and includes birds that are also seen in North America. The paintings are accurate, clear, and attractive. The text is well organized, focusing on the significant field marks for identification. It's small enough to be conveniently carried in the field. This new book fills a big need.

Wet well laid out. Descriptions are clear, drawings are a good size and show some habitat.

LOVE this book! I have had 3 copies of this over the years as we have moved, and lost, it a couple of times. It's a book I always come back to with the recipes as well as the sour dough starter recipe.

I bought two of these...one for myself, one for a dear friend who messed up his Breadmaker cookbook. We both LOVE this book!

I have several bread machine cookbooks, and this is one of the better ones. The recipe content is excellent, and the book itself arrived in excellent condition. The book itself is a little dated (I believe it was written about a decade ago), but the content is still perfectly appropriate.If you own a smaller, vertical loaf style machine, the book is spot on. A great book. If you own a larger machine (like a Zojirushi), you'll need to adapt the recipies to fit its larger loaf sizes... or use it to produce smaller loaves per the reduced ingredients listed in the book.

This is my all-time favorite bread machine cookbook. I am now using my 3rd bread machine since they first came out on the market and of all the recipe books I have bought for my bread machines, this is my very favorite one! The recipes go from the basics to the most unique and unusual hard to find recipes. Your family will think you have turned into a gourmet bread baker when you make something from this book.My favorite recipe is the Shaker Herb bread which makes a heavenly turkey and swiss sandwich. Everything I have made from this book has been a hit and I have made all of them many, many times at the request of family and friends.You wont be sorry if you buy this book!

This little book comes in handy during my aphasia group meetings. I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP). I run aphasia communication groups. Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder resulting from a "brain" thing. Most often, people acquire aphasia as a result of a stroke, but can also get it from a head injury, brain infection, tumor, progressive brain disorder, etc. Aphasia can impact communication output systems, such as talking, writing and making meaningful gestures (like gesturing for people to "come here") and/or communication input systems like understanding what you read, what people say to you or what gestures mean (like the gesture one might make if you cut them off in traffic). In my groups, people with aphasia use the books to point to items when they cannot say the word. The additional benefit is the small size. They fit into a pocket neatly.

The photos are a bit odd, but this is definitely useful in cases where you don't speak the native language. The description on Amazon could be clearer--there is NO language in here at all. Only pictures.

I found this book really helpful. It's smaller and thinner than I expected, and the pictures are small, but it was a great universal tool. I originally received this back in 2002 from a friend when I was headed to Europe for a study abroad program. I have since replaced it at least six times, because I keep giving it away to friends who are going to a place where they don't speak the language, and they have all reported back that they not only loved it, they used the heck out of it. I found it was most helpful when we were traveling to more remote areas where English wasn't as prevalent than in bigger cities. The map was probably the most used portion of the book, but there were many other photos that came in handy.

Smaller than I expected but the size was advertised properly. Would fit perfectly in an inside suit jacket pocket. I am not using it to travel but to help my nonverbal son communicate.

I may have to update this review once I actually use the book for an upcoming trip. My initial impression is that it's nice and small, about passport size but 2-3 times thicker which makes it convenient to carry around. However there are a TON of pictures, so you have to become more familiar with where everything is in order to know to what to use in your "conversations" and find it quickly.I also thought the photos looked outdated, but as long as they get the point across, I won't complain.I tried to imagine past scenarios where I would have found this book useful. There is one page that has all the basic colors, and the food pages would have been useful. I'm more doubtful about how the different medicines pictured would be helpful for me, since they are all pretty small, but we shall see.

I never travel without this book and I love to give it as a gift to travelers. It is ingenious! It is such a great tool. When traveling to a foreign country, even if you know the language there is always something you don’t know the word for. Most likely that thing is in this book. So just point of the picture.

I discovered this series years ago and relied on it many times. These days, with instant translators, it's somewhat less useful but I still carry it with me. I do use it because it's often faster to flip to that picture of a chicken that to haul out the phone, hit the app, type in the work and hope it's accurate. I'd recommend it as a useful backup to your phone translation function.

Wow. Just wow!! I actually preordered this book but just read it today. Why? I knew I would sit down and not get up till it was done....and then it would be over. I was not disappointed. The oldest Hansen son thought his life would be led alone...Uncle Gunnar to the nieces and nephews but never have his own family. Four years prior on a vacation in Vegas he met Suzanne and they fell passionately in love over a 4 day period. Due to not being able to contact each other , they both thought the other had left them high and dry at the alter. Gunnar went home to the ranch and Suzanne went on to medical school with a little surprise...she was pregnant. Fast forward 4 years and she is hired at the clinic in Prairie. These two...combust when they are together...the love never died. Thats all I'll say on the plot.I am pondering how imperfectly perfect Gunnar, and really all his brothers, cousins, and in-laws are. These rough and tumble ranchers are perfect gentlemen, deferring to their mamma's , they cook, clean, and love their women with no shame. I've read a lot of alien romance and shifter romance books where the male is like this..true they may be a wolf, or a blue alien but they are perfect....very rarely do you see a non-sci fi character with these traits. Yet all Tessa's guys are perfect gentlemen, with perfect manners, and usually a models face and athletes killer body. So bravo. Please pick this book up....but read all the previous books that 1 by 1 introduce the town folk of Prairie. Saying I love this series does not do it justice.

Another fantastic read by Tessa. Her men are gorgeous, her women are not pushovers. The only negative is that she can't write fast enough! Very compelling and captivating stories that will keep you reading all night.

Unpredictable, fun, and heart wrenching. A good wholesome book. You can put it down for days and pick right back up!

this was a great book

Another great story...Gunnar is a favourite character, nice to see his story rounded out...and to catch up with the Prairie Posse.

Tessa has done it again. Gunnar and Suzannah feel in love quickly the last touch. A new job brought Suzannah to town and Gunnar found the love that he thought he lost. Getting past misunderstandings they find their love and connection still there. I couldn't put the book down.

This series just keeps getting better and better. It is about fate and second chances. I like how the other characters from previous books are included. It makes the stories and the characters interesting.

What a great story! The characters of Gunnar and Suzannah develop beautifully. You are drawn to their love story and watch as their bond grows even stronger through their love of Lulah. Another winner from Tessa Layne.
