I read all of these stories easily to my daughter as one of bedtime story. There are 5 stories; Little Star Friends, Pirate Ship Adventures, Adventure to the Moon, The Magical Frog, and Where is Teddy. At first the book seemed geared to boys, as the first 3 stories were more boy related and my daughter had to ask if it was a book for boys. As soon as she asked that then came the stories for girls, there are 2 stories for girls at the end of the book. The stories are short so they can be easily read in no time. There are a few grammatical errors in the book, but nothing that takes away from reading it. My daughter did point some of them out but she is eight. Younger kids will not notice them at all. This would be a great story to read to first-grader or younger. I think, they can appreciate the simplicity of the story and the verbiage. Older kids will not be as engaged and will probably point out some of the grammatical errors within the book. They may even feel as though the book is gender specific as the first few stories have male main characters and only the last 2 stories have female main characters.I would recommend that the author change around the story lineup a bit. He needs to intertwine the male and female character base stories as the story now has the first 3 stories being male based and the last 2 females. It should be male-female-male-female-male; this way if more than one story is being read at nights in one setting, some kids (mainly girls) will not feel as though it's bedtime stories for boys. This will allow the book does not feel gender specific in the beginning.
I am one of those readers who love when authors stretch past the boundaries of fiction and explore realms that you know are completely unfeasible, but you enjoy reading otherwise.The stories in this book just seemed to reach so far that my nephew kept stopping our bedtime reading so that he could ask questions that are completely logical, but I didn't really have an answer for because I KNEW that there is no way that a kid could hide out on a pirate ship, get stranded on a treasure-filled island when the pirates find their treasure chest and leave, and then build a raft and go back home. Honestly, the kid was described as to being under 8 years of age! No one wondered where he had gotten off to after having been gone for nearly a day?!And there's also the fact that in every story the parents just seemed to accept everything that happened without thinking about it. Completely illogical.If you're looking for a collection of bedtime stories that have fleshed out plotlines that children can understand (especially to the age group this is targeted for), and characters that they can relate to, this is not the book for you. This collection could stand for a proper proofread and a whole lot of editing. There are many grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors through each story.
This is the third book we have read from Uncle Amon and this one is by far my favorite. Bedtime Stories is a collection of short stories centered around kids dreaming/imagination. It's a good story to read not only at bed time but at any time to help spark some imagination. These stories are the perfect length, read just one on those late nights, or they are short enough to read 2 when the little one gets to bed early. I enjoyed all the short stores in this book, they had a nice flow, well written, and kept me as an adult interested. I was able to download this book for free on the kindle and I'm glad I did.
Very cute! There are 5 great stories, each several pages long, so short but still long enough to get little imaginations flowing and hopefully send them off to dreamland ready for a midnight adventure. My favorite story is "Where is Teddy?" but all the tales are just adorable. With this ebook as a free gift you get 3 more children books that are downloadable.Uncle Amon has spun some fascinating stories. It would appear he also has a few more Bedtime Story books too, that just might be worth grabbing. My grandson is only two but I was able to get him to set with me long enough to read him a story, which I think he liked pretty good. I love to read and do so all the time, I hope I can get him to love books just as much as I do. Some how I missed the mark with my kids, they just never took to reading but here's my chance to try again! :)I read this in exchange for my honest opinion and review. It's a fun book full of big dreams.
There's really not too much to say about these bedtime stories. They're good stories, but not what I would consider "one of the greats". There are five short bedtime stories in all. They weren't bad stories by any means, but they definitely weren't anything my 5 year old son would ask for again by name. I did like that it had a variety of different stories. There was a pirate story more directed towards boys, a teddy bear story more directed towards girls, and a few stories (stars, moon, magic frog) that I would call more "gender neutral". I was a little disappointed by the lack of pictures. For being a book targeting kids aged 4-8, you'd think it would be full of illustrations. I did get the Kindle version, so maybe that's why. Not a favorite read of my kids. They like the stories, and it gets them to use their imaginations which is great for my two older kids. My little one still loves looking at pictures. the stories are short enough to read them all at bedtime. My husband has read a few of the stories to our kids too and thinks some of the stories are very silly. The Magical Frog is a favorite- because we would like the wish for no school or in my case no work tomorrow. My son likes the Adventure to the Moon- he has a telescope and loves to look at the moon, stars and planets. So he can imagine the story well. We received this item at a discount in exchange for our review.
