Peveteaux is witty and informative. She speaks her mind and is honest about her feelings and experiences. This is an excellent resource for the new Celiac like me, diagnosed 1/6/15. FINALLY - Someone gets it! IT's AWFUL to HAVE to be GF. It's not a "choice" and it's a very tough thing to adjust to, knowing you can't quit if it gets tough. This book helped SO much that i bought it for a friend who was diagnosed like me. Wow - recipes are really great and just the banter and wording felt a little empowering. Thank you! GF IS my bitch now!

I Gave this to my cousin as a christmas gift. She enjoyed it.This hilarious book was a wonderful guide for not only the gluten-free. Celiac and gluten sensitivity runs in my family, and I have several gluten-free friends, I bake gluten free. I was even offered a job at a gluten free bakery but I had to deny but the pay was to low.. The book is a great resource to learn how to substitute items.

Funny and relatable! When my doctor told me to go gluten-free because of thyroid issues, I looked at her like she was nuts. Then I hopped onto amazon and looked up books. As soon as I saw this title, I knew this would be the book for me. Going gluten-free is not easy, but then again, neither are the consequences of eating gluten and the author does not sugar-coat anything. I kind of wish she was my friend because this book really helped me deal with being GF.

I love April's open and honest responses to having to go gluten free. Her stories and advice are priceless! She shares recipes and anecdotes all while speaking to us in clear and straightforward passages that let you know you are not alone in the bewildering gluten-filled jungle. If you are looking for real advice from the trenches, told in down-to-earth fashion, then this is the book for you!

I love this! The author voiced everything I have been thinking since I was diagnosed with celiac disease! She made fun a sucky situation and still made you realize how important it is to eat right and take care of yourself. I am forever changed by reading this! I have recommended this to anyone and everyone I come across that has issues with gluten.

As a recently diagnosed celiac this book took me through the rollercoaster of emotions I was feeling! Such a good read for anyone with celiac, a gluten allergy or for anyone who has someone they love that is gluten free. I can't wait to try the recipes!!

Finally, somebody wrote a cruise guide that doesn't cover only Rome and Venice... and maybe Florence. I didn't believe it until I saw it, and the guide actually includes the most famous destinations in Italy, but it also covers the smallest fishing villages which you are bound to visit on a smaller cruise ship as my family is planning to do (such as Portofino, Vernazza, and of course Florence). It provides a lot of info on everything you need to see and do, and make sure you download the free high quality maps which you can either print or browse on your tablet or iphone (we will use it in all three ways!). It also includes ports I honestly never heard of in Sicily, Sardinia and Malta, but thankfully, it's all laid out in a very user friendly way, and it brought back the joy into planning our family vacation.I just wish I had a guide like this on other Mediterranean countries (Spain and Greece please!)

Whilst the book is a great tourist guide to where to sleep and eat, things to do and see, excursions to take, it also evokes breathtaking images of incredibly beautiful Italian cities and villages, including travel destinations well off the beaten track.If you have never been to Italy, reading this book would make you WANT to go there. If you have already been to Italy, reading the book will make you HAVE to return to explore parts of Italy that you have never heard of. The book lets you imagine fairy tale villages with a relaxed way of life, cobblestoned streets, where old and new are intertwined as if they are one against a backdrop of impressive cliffs, sandy white beaches and deep blue Mediterranean waters.It immerses us into a variety of Italian culture, customs and habits, colourful food markets, delectable food specialities and a rich culture of great art: paintings and sculptures by the Italian masters. I recommend this book for anyone who are thinking of travelling in Italy.

The book is then organized by the most popular cities, giving important information such as where to sleep and eat, key highlights of what you must not miss, excursions, beaches and other important things to see and do. Includes a link to get downloadable maps. The most helpful part was how it was organized by city, making it easy for travelers to narrow their trip down. I can definitely see how this guide will be useful for travel to Italy!

Filled with helpful information for traveling, this guide offers numerous places for lodging and dining for the many points of interest in Italy. Advice on how to save and get the most for your money are added pluses in this book.If you are planning a trip to Italy, you will find it useful for exploring each stop along the way. Find out about local museums and interesting cultural stops--places to see off the beaten track--in this easy to understand guide. My only "wish" would be for it to include some photographs.

This guide to Italian cities and Cruise ports, at 346 pages, is an absolute steal for this price. This guide contains so much information that this is likely the only guide you will need. The maps are also very nice and detailed. There might be other guides out there on the market, but many of them are WAY overpriced and don't include even half as much as this book does. If you're planning a trip to Italy anytime in the near future, don't hesitate to get this today!

This really covers all the possible places you can go in Italy and everything is given in detail that you will not have any sort of problem while travelling to Italy. I can't believe I got this book so cheap! I think the author should increase the price as the guide is fact-filled and very entertaining. There is so much information in here that I do not have to buy any other guides. Printable maps are another great advantage. After reading this book, I've decided Italy will be my next vacation destination. And I'm definitely going there with this book loaded on my Kindle!

When I think of Shawn I think of a great athlete with a bubbly personality and a big smile. As a gymnastics fan I would've liked to read more on her dealings with other athletes, coaches, us gymnastic staff, travels, etc. I realize she was still competing while she worked on this book so maybe that played a factor. She did share some stories of her adventure in Beijing and they were fun tales.I did find the 2nd half of the book (post Olympics) surprising and honest, a lot of highs and lows for a young woman. Although I think she is probably 15-20 years too young to write a memoir on life lessons this is a decent book for a 20 year old athlete and is a fairly entertaining read.

I have always been a huge fan of Shawn Johnson even before all her fame from the Olympics. I follow gymnastics pretty heavily since I am a former gymnast/diver and she has always been one of my favorite gymnasts to watch. When I heard she had an autobiography about her coming out I had to get it. This book did not disappoint, it was interesting to hear about what she thought about the Olympics and post Olympics and training and just really about her life outside of gymnastics. I recommend to anyone who likes Shawn Johnson and wants to know more about her rather than just her Olympic gymnastics career. It also sends a lot of positive vibes for people to overcome difficulties in their lives.

Because my daughter is a competitive gymnast, I knew this was a book we'd have to own as soon as I discovered it. Our family remembers well rooting for Shawn in the 2008 gymnastics. Watching her smile and intensity. The way she sparkled as she competed.When I handed my daughter this book, I was curious whether it would resonate with her or be one she started and then put down. The pages flipped pretty fast as she learned more about Shawn and her journey. The book pairs her journey with her spiritual journey. It's told in a way that perfectly targets teens. The style is conversational taking you behind the scenes in the events in her life. Each chapter also ends with a Lesson I've Learned: a nugget of truth that applies to all of us.This is a sports memoir with spiritual applications. A worthwhile read, and one I look forward to reading with my daughter next time.

Shawn's story is an inspiring journey for anyone. Very few realize how hard girls train to become an Olympic gymnast, and how coveted those spots on the team really are. The highlight for me is reading about the aftermath of being an Olympic medalist and figuring out what to do next... and these girls are so young to be faced with such big life choices. I mean, how many of us fulfill our life's dream by the age of 16 and are faced with what to do next? Shawn has made the transition beautifully and has embraced the Lord and her family and friends to lift her during the tough times. We can all learn something special from this spunky yet eloquent young lady who won our hearts in Beijing with her performance, and her sportsmanship... Truly a Golden Flower!

I found this book interesting and easy to read. It was a good book overall. I have always liked watching gymnastics, although it makes me nervous. I wasn't very familiar with Shawn Johnson because I didn't see much of the Olympics the year she was there. I knew of her, and was curious to know her story. My daughter recently started taking gymnastics classes and I happened to come across this book. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but it was a good read. I would recommend it to people who are curious about the world of gymnastics, or who are fans of this gymnast.

Shawn, though young, has packed a whole lifetime of wisdom into this book. She has been through some tough things and worked hard. I loved seeing her win on "Dancing with the Stars" and enjoyed reading how that came to be. She has a "what I've learned" box for every chapter and she seems to have remained remarkably unscathed from being in the public limelight. She also gave good insight into what it takes to be a winner--ATTITUDE is a great deal of it! Her parents provided a rock for her to balance on in her career--well done!

I was so pleased with my purchase because of it's price, amount of time that it arrived with another of my purchases which was nice because I only had to expect one package. The condition of the book was good as was described. I'd recommend this book to anyone like me who loves ballet, figure skating, or gymnastics and as a figure skater myself I learn from both ballet and gymnastics for grace, flexablity, and much more and what better what to learn than to read a biography of a successful athlete.

I read this first to see if it's appropriate for my tweenish daughter, a gymnastic fan, and I feel it is. It is NOT primarily a memoir of her gymnastics training, experiences, or career, so if you are looking for that, this isn't it. She does of course talk about it, but it doesn't provide a lot of details on the training or moves itself. Her emphasis is her personal journey to date, and the second half is all post-Olympics, talking about her Dancing With The Stars experience, and her personal struggles to make sense of her life post-gymnastics. She talks a lot about her Christian faith in this part of the book, but I didn't feel it was proselytizing or judgmental. She is young, so it does seem immature compared to most memoirs- but most memoirs aren't written when someone is 20! For the short life she has had, she has done a lot, and she has a great optimism and heart to her. So if you are a fan, and/or a young girl or woman, you will probably really appreciate this book.
