I ordered these Haggadim because our family is growing and we didn't have enough to go around. Five was all they had or I would have ordered more.

I purchased this Haggadah for our Passover meal. The transaction was a little late and the item was in a more used condition than I expected, but the price was great and it was well worth it to have this item. I received it in time for Passover, so all was fine. I am happy with the transaction and would do it again.

My family used this Haggadah for many years. I grew up on it and I think it still stands the test of time!!!

best haggadah i've ever used

Of all the many editions of the Haggadah that are in print,this is the one that I always keep coming back to. I have a largecollection of Haggadot (close to 100) but when I needed one standard one for everyone at my table I chose the Silverman Haggadah.The Haggadah includes the traditional text with a more up-to-date translation. The english is gender sensitive and there are short commentaries and english readings throughout.All in all I could not imagine going through Passover without this Haggadah.

Nice mix of travel accounts, photos and recipes. It seems to capture some of the best experiences and food in Iran, though it romanticizes the country a bit. My own trip to Iran showed it to be grittier and generally less pretty than portrayed in the book. The recipes are not the standard Iranian standbys -- they are tweaked a bit, and that is good. You can get the standard recipes (e.g. for fensenjan) on the web, but the recipes in the book add something to what you can find on the web.

This is a beautiful book that will inspire you to try the recipes. I have several Persian cookbooks that tend to call for ingredients that most American kitchens don't have, but this one keeps it simple and doable. It also adds a few dishes that aren't strictly speaking real Persian, but which nonetheless capture the spirit with nontraditional ingredients.

This book is a splendid illustration of the finest of regional Iranian ( Persian) traditional cooking. The cultural history, traditions and food have been hidden from the West for so long, but the tastes and food and drinks are the foundation of some of the finest regional cooking in the European world and the cook and the writer truly showcase the magnificence of the Persian tradition in this beautiful book. In the tradition of these two authors, the book presents the culture, language and the cuisine with stunning photos and quality paper inserts , which reflect the decorative arts and traditions of this fine national heritage.

I love Persian food and this book is modern and interesting to read as well.The recipes are great and the information about Iran is interesting and engaging.

This is, as usual from Malouf and Malouf, an absolutely gorgeous book. The photographs are splendid, both of Iran and of the food. I wished, having been to Iran, that the sites had been identified. And I wish that this version had been converted to US recipe standards. I can figure out the grams and liters thing, but it adds more time to the cooking process. All that said, I loved the book, the recipes, and the food they produced.

As it happens, I'm expecting to be purchasing a new mattress sometime within the next year or so. I look forward to that process about as much as I look forward to driving into a car dealership and finding myself immediately swarmed by salesmen, anxious to make a sale despite the fact that they turn out to know less about the cars they are trying to sell than I do (most of the time, anyway).The author brings his experience from several years working as a salesman and then manager of one of the large mattress chain stores, and I believe that his intention is sincere to provide some guidance to people who are planning to go out and purchase a new mattress for their own use.One thing I learned from the book is that it seems that the industry is moving away from the traditional separate mattress and box spring design, to one with a 'foundation' support for the mattress. I was not aware of that, which shows that in the nearly 20 years since I purchased my last mattress, a few things have changed. (And it seems like my 20 year interval is far beyond what is typically recommended. He mentions replacing mattresses every 10 years, and mattress websites that I've looked at recommend even more frequent replacements, as you might expect).The book begins with an explanation of the four types of mattresses currently being sold - traditional coil, all foam, hybrid and air mattresses. He doesn't cover water beds or futons, which is fine since I wouldn't be considering either of those myself. For the coil type mattresses, he also briefly explains the differences between coils - Bonnell coil, Marshall coil, offset coil, and continuous coil. That was useful although I'm wondering, once I go into a mattress store, is the salesman even going to know whether the mattress being shown to me is built using a Bonnell coil or a Marshall, or an offset or continuous? I guess I'll find out.One recommendation he makes is to spend some time in the store and lay down on the mattresses that you are considering, spending at least 5-7 minutes on each one. That makes sense but I have to admit that I've always felt uncomfortable in doing that in a store environment, and I also am uncertain whether or not I could clearly tell which mattresses feel best to me when experiencing them in a store. It's something I'll have to try, at least, when the time comes to buy a new mattress.There is one key thing that I did not find in this book, that I was particularly looking for. My experience in shopping for mattresses in the past is that they are given such a wide variety of names, descriptions, and specifications, that it is impossible to be confident when going from store to store that I could compare apples-to-apples. Are all of the variations really meaningful, do they make a difference in comfort or quality of rest? I'm still unclear on that point. And the author of this book doesn't necessarily discourage someone from spending a couple of thousand dollars on a mattress, or even more for the heavily promoted Tempurpedic which apparently is never discounted (and can sell for as much as, egad, six or seven thousand dollars!), even while Consumer Reports and others will advise that mattresses as inexpensive as $500 or so are very recommendable. And the most expensive mattress sold by Ikea is $1200, with the great majority of their choices well under a thousand dollars, which again reinforces my impression that these high priced choices are simply masterpieces of image and marketing and don't really offer anything more than their more plebeian cousins. Hotel chains are even offering their own mattress products - check out Marriott, for one example.The whole thing is frustrating and I'll give this book credit for making a sincere effort to provide some help in clearing the way through the fog. Still, the mattress industry seems to be heavily invested in making the decision as muddied as possible, enabling them to steer you towards the higher price and higher profit models. We spend years of our lives sleeping, after all, so don't we want to invest in making sure that those many many hours are spent in the greatest comfort possible?

The Author takes his readers step by step through the mattress buying process.My 5 Star rating is because of attention to detail and subject knowledge.I did not realize their was so much to know about buying a bed.One can add this book to your library, when comes time to purchase your bed, this book hasall your questions and answers.

As new tensions begin to rise, Isabella works to find her place in the world. Draper has a way of speaking to the heart of tween concerns. The dialogue is realistic and the alternating chapters between Isabella's time with her mom and dad underscores the protagonist's discomfort moving back and forth between them. The story could have ended there and worked well as a frank, honest portrait of a modern, blended family. But a dangerous, racially biased event near the end of the novel offers a deeper exploration of the unique struggles faced by young people of color. I was excited for this book as my three children are mixed in the same way as the main character and other relatable things. Me and their dad divorced around the same time as my oldest who is now 11 just like the girl who also has the same name as my daughter. So really was excited reading the first dozen chapters..... and then....The author dove head first into a dramatic hate crime incident where the characters best friend found a noose in her locker.That carried on throughout the book and other less dramatic racial incidents occurred.The story line follows an 11 yr old girl and her journey through a school year. She is an accomplished pianist.the book leads you on her music journey and the greatly anticipated piano recital ....... HOWEVER .....she never makes it there because... drum roll...she gets shot!!! What the....?!The last part of the book is all about the shooting and being in the hospital.I'm frustrated. A lot of it relatable for my girls but the over dramatic bs is not. We are from a northwestern small city with little racial overtones or segregation going on so I had to explain or simply leave out a lot.This book is a good fit for kids of broken families in the inner city maybe but not for us.It's a big downer for us.

This was totally adorable and perfect for bridging that middle grade gap when addressing modern racism, racial identity and police brutality.Isabella or Izzy is lovable from the start, and her talent, loyalty and curiosity lure in the reader from page one. I love that this book touches on the thoughts of children who live with two families due to divorce. This book addresses that complexity in an honest and thought-provoking way.Additionally, Draper artfully layers in Izzy’s struggles as she code switches between her white family and black family, her rich family and working class family, her classy family and her down-home family. The struggles of Isabella are those of my students and this book does a superb job of portraying the challenges and benefits of a truly blended family.Fantastic.

I chose this rating because the story shows different identity and has a good and scary problem. I like how there are many examples of real life family's and situations that make you want to read Blended to the end. Even though I have the book a five star rating, the only thing I would add on to it is what happens at school after the police situation because the female nurse said you will have a lot of wounds to show your friends when you get back to school. I totally recommend this book to anyone who is interested.👍

Best book ever! If you are looking for a book that has drama comedy that will make you want to read more and more!

I ordered this for my 10 yo and she finished it in a few days. She really enjoyed it and gave it the 5 star rating. I love that she enjoys reading and it’s a huge win to find a book she loves!

Days go by, and Ella learns about a tragic accident that happened next door many many years ago, and of a disappearance of a young girl who lived in their house. Was the figure in an attic window during family's first evening in the house just Ella's imagination? Ella Daniels is on a mission to resolve a 150-year-old case.I will tell you the truth, I was pleasantly surprised by the book. A puzzling story, amazing characters, remarkable discoveries. A very easy and fast read. Perfect for any mystery lover.

This WONDERFUL novel. The story flowed beautifully with no excess of descriptions, warm, likeable characters and written so evocatively that at times I was close to tears. Don’t pass on this lovely book...it will stay with you for a long time.

I really wish they had a star in between I liked it and I loved it; I REALLY, REALLY liked this book. I read a review by another reader who preferred hearing about the story from the point of view of the present day character, but I was just the opposite - I couldn't get enough of Violet's and Frances' stories. The mystery of what happened to Violet kept my interest and I plan to check out the other books by this author

So, her and her family have moved from London to the coast on a house overlooking the sea. However, Ella soon hears the rumours of a mysterious murder and a missing girl and she can’t concentrate on her new novel until she gets to the bottom of the tragic case.East Sussex Coast 1886 – Eighteen year old Violet Hargraves aspires to be a painter, however, her father insists that it isn’t proper and instead she should marry. However, when the naive Violet meets the handsome and older man Edwin, her new neighbour, he offers her the chance to make her dreams of becoming a painter real. As Violet starts to fall under his spell she gets a warning from the most unlikeliest place…his wife.This is my first read from Kerry Barrett, but I don’t think it will be my last, she sucks you in as the tale unfolds told from two points in time; present day from Ella’s point of view and then back in 1886 as Violet first meets Edwin and events start to unfold. The Girl in the Picture did a great job in pulling you in, feeding you parts of the past as Ella slowly starts unravelling the story from the present, so although you may guess what has happened you can’t be entirely sure until you reach the end.It was also a bit of an emotional journey, Ella starts to learn about Violet’s life and starts to sees parallels to her own history, which forces her to face some emotional baggage she’s been hauling around since childhood. Towards the end of the book when the whole mystery unravels and you learn the full extent of the tragedy…I admit, I may have shed a few tears, there was no ugly crying but it was a bitter sweet poignant moment.I really enjoyed this book I really liked how well Barrett balanced the two separate timelines and the intrigue of the mystery with the more human story of Ella and Violet.

Enjoy a stay by the ocean and unravel a murder mystery in the location that took place 150 years ago. Times have certainly changed for women, thank goodness! If you love historical mysteries, you'll find it difficult to put this book down.

I purchased this book, never having read anything by this author. It was totally different than what I expected. After the first ten pages or so, I couldn't put it down & have recommended it to a lot of people. I definitely enjoyed the way it went back to two women 150 years ago, so we could get to know how this mystery came to be. Then, it went to an author, living in one of the women's houses with her family in our time - 2016. I enjoyed each of the characters & felt as though I knew them & wanted to help. I didn't want to see it end. I read it into the night & when I came to the last chapter, I put it down so that it would surprise me the next day. And, that's just what it did. A complete surprise. I definitely will be looking for other books by this author & many thanks to Amazon for bringing it to my attention.

I'm only giving this book 3 stars, because it was pretty boring in the beginning and middle parts,, but mainly because of it's ending. t didn't fit the overall tone of the book. I love a good surprise, but this was just disturbing in the extreme, and not in a good way. No spoilers here, but let's just say it was kind of left a bad taste in my mouth that won't go away. It was like one author started the book, and another one finished it. Because I felt like it was such a bait and switch, compared with what I thought I was going to be reading, I wouldn't try this author again.
